A company producing heart-stopping visual theatre, ThickSkin aims to unearth new talent and engage established artists in the creation of innovative work. The company is committed to producing collaborative, cross-disciplined performance that will inspire and challenge audiences.

ThickSkin creates fresh and exciting new work by combining media, movement and text. The company was formed by Neil Bettles and Laura Sutton at the beginning of 2010, and debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a visceral staging of Davey Anderson’s Blackout. The production won the coveted Arches Brick Award, was shortlisted for the Holden Street Theatres Award and selected for Mervyn Stutter’s Pick of the Fringe, subsequently touring in the UK. The company has since been invited to develop new work at Battersea Arts Centre as part of the Artists in Residence Programme, at The Core at Corby Cube through its Supported Artists Programme and at The Arches, Glasgow.

A big part of ThickSkin's work with young people is to develop ideas, content and frameworks for future professional productions. The company values the creative contribution made by its young audiences and participants, and uses this as inspiration for ThickSkin’s long-term plans and artistic vision. ThickSkin’s Discover Programme offers audiences the opportunity to engage with the company throughout the year through a range of workshops, residencies and digital projects
